Milby Company Blood Drive
A Gigantic Thank You
We tried something a bit different this year and scheduled a blood drive to help mark our 75th anniversary. Little did we know that we would see not just our own employees, but you, our customers and your employees, our vendors, and other local businesses and their employees who also took the time to donate life-saving blood.
The participation was more than we hoped for, and thanks to the very generous blood donors, as many as 60 people’s lives could be saved by the blood donated! The generous donors enjoyed a tasty lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, fruit, desserts and sodas, juices and water. All customers, vendors and guests who donated also received a special commemorative cast iron hand pump as our Thank You.
Herr Foods donated chips and pretzels and participated with donors too.
We had people with rare blood types and those with universal blood types donate. Every single unit donated can save up to three people.
And some of the first time donators even remarked how easy it was to do!
This was such a success that we have committed to scheduling the next blood drive for next year, October 1, 2008. Mark your calendar now and save the date to give the gift of life. We’ll look forward to seeing you, and of course, we’ll have a great lunch waiting for you too!
75th Birthday Party at Camden Yards: A Great Success!
Milby Company’s 75th Anniversary Picnic got under way with plenty of balloons and typical sultry summer weather. Five hundred guests enjoyed a yummy all-you-can eat picnic with Italian sausages, barbequed chicken, potato salad and sliced watermelon. It was capped off by never-ending birthday cake and ice cream.
Congratulations to all the prize winners! Jessie was happy that she could give away the shirts and gift certificates. The party balloons also went home with most of our younger guests
The game against the Twins started off with an exciting four run lead for the Orioles. And even though the score didn’t end up in our favor, the fireworks were a big hit and made the evening even more special.
Thank you to everyone who came to help us celebrate 75 years. We are grateful for your support and loyalty and we will look forward to seeing you next year!
